1 thing that should've been left off "The Last Lecture"
Posted on: October 4, 2008Bless Randy Pausch and the legacy he left behind, not to mention how the Internet waves carried his inspirational, final speech further than any previous generation would've had the benefit of.
I was surprised to discover his professional work had a lot to do with virtual worlds, something which I can of course relate to.
But, at the end, @ 1:15:12 where he pulls a "twist" and mentions the lecture isn't for "you" (meaning the audience), but his children, was an anticlimactic downer.
If I were Randy, I simply would've dedicated it to my kids (who I hope will be enriched by what their late Dad left behind).
Lesson: make each & everyone who gets something out of what you're saying feel special. As wonderful as your presentation is or might be, and as grave and unfair as life can happen to us, don't pull back from all those you've touched.

I would have never thought that would be in it. Mind you, I haven't looked at it yet, so I wouldn't know! XD
However, Torley, your point is informative, as always. I really do hope people heed this.

Very well said Torley! The "Big Picture" is about what's happening inside on a personal level for each and everyone. Your post is a good example and reminder. Mahalo!!!

Ya, I felt that way when I heard him say that, Torley, and couldn't quite put my finger on what bothered me about it. Thank you for expressing this.
