6 more WindLight-enhanced panoramas
Posted on: September 2, 2007Here's the latest taste of what we've been up to with WindLight: all of these are raw from Second Life and almost completely un-post-processed, save for a touch of contrast, and obviously, the panorama stitching. (Related, you may want to see my earlier tutorial "How to make a beautiful Second Life panorama in 15 minutes").
And here's a wild one of Detect Surface's Abaddon I've made vertical, to show the intricate details of this cyber-city.
These are the first panoramas I've taken using custom water presets. Also note how "classic clouds" are shown in some of the shots too, and that there's some full-scene bloom (aka "RenderGlow"), which has matured into a standard building tool parameter, but can still be customized via the Client menu.

Hello there, Torley!
Well, these shots are, of course, breathtaking. It's an agonising wait to have such wonders to play with, but it's so reassuring to have snapshots like yours to salivate over in the meantime.
Well… reassuring, but also excruciating in an envy-ridden sort of way. "Can't have.. pretty treats.. yet…"

@Detect: WindLight, still in the works, still forthcoming! *thinks I should make a blog badge advertising it* Whoever made Abaddon is a creative mastermind.

Just been looking around that some of the updates on Windlight, and…. Oh My Froogle… They really are amazing, so much better with the added effects. It was great to start with, but now… If my eyes could pop out like this 'O.O' they really would lol. The 4 pictures on the wiki are stunning, so reminds me of Alan Wake. Kid in a candy store comes to mind ^_^.
Boo-tiful skies.
Dazzling effects.
Re-fleca-tive wa-ta!
Amazing Work!!

@Detect: It's been amazing what our graphics gurus have done, adding visual features as well as performance optimizations. Reflective water IS GPU-intensive (as similar effects are in games) and has a noticeable FPS hit, but shiny looks better and runs faster, and we have Avatar Impostors HURRAY.
/me is looking forward to Alan Wake too… !
