A brief update

Light in the shadows, and another week has already gone by! *gasps and looks back* 4 days I've been absent on my blog. Sorry.

Meteor clause in effect, I promise I'll get to comments this weekend — 2 days got ditched because my main computer failed to boot and I had to go through a long and arduous backup restore. The first time failed, so I went to a secondary backup, and thankfully that worked. 7 hours for each attempt, plus all the disk diagnostics I had to run. I won't bore you, but I'm glad to be back up, and I can't stress how important it is to make backups.

The Mangaverse

It's incredibly frustrating being behind on correspondence. I've come to peace with the fact I can't possibly keep up with all of it, so I focus on the eclectic, make formal documentation to address what popularly comes up, and keep moving. Please pardon me that I'm not able to reply to everything personally (as I was once able to, upon a time), but if you know of superior cloning technology, make a flexi-flag and wave it!

I do plan to respond to other comments I've made elsewhere on the Web too, like my Flickr ones… but not YouTube. It's frustrating because I see such nice messages left on my Video Tutorials, but my own replies aren't showing up. Or sometimes I'll see it for a few min. after posting, then refresh, and it never comes back. I'll wait for Google to remedy that. Until then, arrrr. :\

Hi Torley,

The YouTube problem your having is caused by data centers not syncing properly. (Meaning, You leave a comment on server x and server x is supposed to send it to all other servers but it doesn't. meaning that your comment is on server x but not on any others until the data center managers force the servers to sync, Which is when your comment starts to showup in other places. This usually will take 24 hours.)

(P.S Trust me, I know its a pain for both the users and the administrators, I used to manage a entire data center for a hosting provider.)

@Donald: Thanks for chiming in, unfortunately I thought something similar earlier, but in some cases, it's been days, even weeks, and my comments haven't shown up. I've tried persistently leaving the same (or similar) comment multiple times, and it didn't sync up and show it. It was very time-consuming and I didn't have the minutes to spare, so I bailed.

I've previously observed a number of other problems which I continue to experience… I hope things'll get better!
