Amaryllis adventures
Posted on: March 2, 2008BEHOLD, FOR IT IS A NEW DAY! AND BEFORE YOU, I HOLD… a glass vase (which formerly held romantic roses) now holstering sea glass in green and pink (! — I would've preferred marbles, but didn't see those at the store) and an Amaryllis bulb. A supposedly easy-to-grow plant which is a catchall name for many different varieties… I wonder what this one will look like!
The Amaryllis kit was US75¢ @ Wal-Mart. It was 50% off! I think that's because it was a leftover from holiday season and no one wanted it
until I came by.
It included a pot and some soil, but I opted for this arrangement to see transparent growth within. The sea glass was $2.39 or so.
MOAR pictures! And the wild hair is a result of [CENSORED, RETRACTED, RETRACTED, et al.]
Too much reflection from the windows for my taste, but hopefully you can see what it's about, even amidst the Magritte-esque head substitution. I followed these handy instructions and am looking forward to what sprouts in several weeks.
After doing this with my wife's supervision, she treated me to some YOMMY apple crisp + cookies 'n' creme ice cream. She's an excellent homemaker without parallel who empowers me as I go about on my many zany experiments! And as you can see, I am both hungry for food and life, and I don't mean that in a soul-sucking vampiric sort of way.

Good luck with your Amaryllis. I planted one about five years ago and it gives me a flower or two every year. I planted in in soil, not water, so I look forward to see the result of yours.

@Seikatsu: I see new green sprouting slowly out of the bulb! And thanks! I hope to do an update when more prettiness appears!
