Burning Life, Data Pipe
Posted on: September 5, 2005Cristiano Midnight's set up a Burning Life section on Snapzilla. I've checked it out sporadically and sparsely because I don't want to spoil myself for the fullblown artistic assault that starts tomorrow (the 5th). A little bit here, a little bit there. Official info from Jeska Linden here.
600 kbps seems to be the "magic number" of downloading data when in SL. I've seen it peak higher, but it always comes back down to sustain at this level, even though I know for sure my connexion is perfectly capable of handling a much higher rate. What's it for? Overhead? A cap so we don't drain LL's juice dry? But why, then, is there a maximum setting of 1000 kbps in Network Preferences? The mind boggles.
