Catching up with my past
Posted on: September 17, 2006I'm terribly pleased I got Spectre VR to run on my MacBook Pro—it's been an ongoing weekend project. I used SheepShaver, and thanx to a nifty guide I found, was able to emulate it reasonably. Full-screen works best. Some stuttering I don't recall from the original has degraded the quality, but it's such a joy to see this protometaverse unfold before my eyes again. Even if it is all about killing (tanks) and not much kissing (lovers).
Next thing, perhaps, might be to record the soundtrack and then encode it into MP3 and share it with… who else is a Spectre VR fan? Maybe it's more personal than I originally thot. At the same time, I tracked down the composer, Morey Goldstein, and wrote in. No reply yet. I'm still hopeful.
My Internet is acting up. I've been disconnected unpredictably twice this night. It's not nice, but the weekend sure is. I love using my weekends to catch up on my past, and tie up loose ends. Very much a project-in-progress.
Next things, I'd like to get a great scissor-action (I think that's what it's called), low-profile computer keyboard that feels like a laptop. May be easier on my fingers. I notice NCIX has this intriguing I-Rocks model.
I've been storing files on Eggdisk—6 gigs of free space, wonder how long it'll last. The only downside is all the ads, understandable since it's "free", but you can directly link to files. Which is better than some services which not only mangle up filenames, but have you go through intermediary waiting steps. Downloading seems reasonably fast too.
I'd really like to go on an airplane trip with Orbital's "Halcyon + On + On" playing in the background. Would be a lovely landing.
Pictures are great for blogs, that's why I've been doing more of them lately.
