4 Firefox Add-Ons to Ease Your Online Life

^ That’s the name of my second contribution to Stepcase Lifehack, wherein I share 4 Firefox add-ons — all compatible with version 3 — which I’m severely fond of.

And yes, there’s a DEFINITE VERTICAL TABS BIAS. You shouldn’t go browsing without knowing what that is. Curious? Find out!

Send enhanced postcards to Flickr with SLBuzz

I often get asked how I get location (SLURL) and tags auto-added to my Second Life postcards. The secret is simple, and I’ve got a video tutorial! I use Mark Barrett’s SLBuzz, compleat with Flickr crossposter, to work the magic. This is a Resident-run service so I disclaim it’s not part of Linden Lab; I’ll also share I’ve sent 1000s of postcards and it’s been a gargantuan timesaver.

A number of other Second Life sites I thank also have Flickr crossposting features. See instructions on:

Get motivated - motivational poster creation tools

I’ve been asked how I make those motivational posters I sometimes put up:

AWETWOSOME: We rock. And so can you.

Truth is, I don’t make the framing. I’ve used 3 motivator creators (that rhymes awkwardly), and my favorite is AutoMotivator because I believe it captures the spirit of the original design archetype the best. After you’ve uploaded a picture, you can also switch between colors without refreshing the page.

In the options-laden area, there’s Motivator by BigHugeLabs. I like the options but both the title and under-text aren’t as typographically powerful, so they aren’t as convincing.

There’s also Despair, Inc.’s Parody Motivator Generator. Aside from different fonts including a curious “80’s arcade” choice, it doesn’t offer a clear advantage compared to the above two.

Get motivated, and share what you make in the comments. :)

Use Picnik to make exciting webpage screenshots

This is of tremendous usefulness if you're editing screenshots the slow way (as I was), and allows you to add spice in a few seconds. I'm so much happier with this smoother process. Check out Picnik and get the Firefox add-on.
