Yesterday, Jadey and I celebrated our 1-year Anniversary. Which is kind of redundant to say, because "anniversary" by definition primarily means "by year". It's one of those rare, good redundancies. Shortly before this event, I had a crazy dream that we were visited by our daughter (meaning the granddaughter of Torley Sr.) from yet another future timeline. Some of it is nebulous at this point, but I know just like has happened before, I'll look back some months and go "that made perfect sense".
Time can be such a frustrating thing. Seems like many people who are about to climb up a stressful "hill" in their lives find themselves thinking, I wish this was all over with! It's the human thing to do. And then when you get past that hump, you look back and may go, "That wasn't so bad after all!" But then, there are more hills?mountains, even?to climb. Never forget the valleys to rest in. The bigger problem is that many people do forget, and as a result, they end up freakin' out and making their lives cumulatively worse: it's akin to playing Dragon Warrior and running for the hills every time you whack a blue slime, even tho you've already encountered 100 of them.
I loathe to generalize, but words are so bad to me sometimes. I've come up with my own sets I use, chiefly for internal reference, but I like to share the joy of language with others. A popular acronym is YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary. That gives me an overly complex mental framework to visualize, so I like saying: it is.
Or, itisitis.
I was over at Alchera, owned by Moopf Murray, which is a really beautiful snowscape with textures that feel more organic than the default Linden tiles. The fact they don't even come across as tiles until you camscan overhead and view the repeats is a testament to what beauty can be had. (To me, it goes without saying so I'll say it anyway) there aren't enough sims in SL, particularly private ones but I point at the mainland too, which exemplify the amplitude of the art of terrain textures. I can point out very few examples and repeat the same ones over and over again… which I shouldn't have to.
And yet I do. I don't know what Alchera's being used for yet, and it's likely it won't be so spacious in a few months. But in the present, I enjoyed playing car soccer with Xyni Platini. I didn't send any piccies of those to Snapzilla because I wanted to ask Francis Chung first?it's for a new collaborative joint, you see. More to come…
I like bringing people together. I got a hearty greeting from Cottonteil Muromachi after I thot she'd left SL (presumptious thinking on my part), her profile piccie now featuring a trio of stringed instruments?no viola (yet)! I was with Xyni at the time, and wanted to show her Cotton's work. So back we went up to the desert in the sky over Weber, aaand… it's really like seeing the same place through a new pair of eyes.
Sometime earlier, Cotton explained she'd acquired 10,000 m2 of land (after selling her familiar rezzing grounds in Carnforth). And she made an island of beans. She did it because she wanted to see if she could.
I think this picture right here would be good for a popup book. I haven't seen one convincingly assembled and scripted in SL yet, so this also goes on my wishlist!
I've been feeling mellower these days: not so much a lack of energy as, I'd rather let it flow or drip than in sudden sputters. It's time for a more languid Second Lifestyle, and that means a change of pace. Quieter things.
Some ideas I've had:
- Take up gardening and landscaping on Jadey's land in Alice, currently home to "Linden Signs in a Linden World".
- Travel around from one money chair (aka "camping chair") location to another, as if they were temples.
- Continue to photograph SL cultural aspects of our online world, like DoMoCo Shadows in the sandbox. And arrange them in themes as Snapzilla albums, once I can get that working again.
- Emulate a SHOW AS OFFLINE or CHAT INVISIBILITY mode by putting on a (BUSY) autoresponse which is polite yet functional, and localize my communication.
- Be my daughter's own daughter.
This isn't even a "retirement"; I don't know what to call it.
I officially declared Second Life as my religion a couple days ago too.
It is?it is.
