I was using Snurl to make long, unsightly URLs look a lot shorter — easier to remember, and definitely faster to type — but for Torley-stuff, I've adapted to something even better: I'm using the magic of 301 redirects to forward URLs on my domain name. Here's what I've currently got:
- Video Tutorials list - torley.com/vidtuts
- My info-page @ work - torley.com/info
- My office in Second Life - torley.com/office
Simple as that. Suggestions for any others?

Hi Torley,
Love your videos!
My school has a class (for credit) on Babson Island. Right now it is a big sand box and we are woking on lots of cool ideas.
My idea is to try to link in Hulu.com to freeview.
Having trouble getting the hulu link to automaticly start.
Do you have any ideas?
FYI - hulu says it is ok to embed links to bloggs etc so there is no legal prob here. Just want to try something cool.
@LN: Hiya! Thanks for letting me know what you're up to and for the kind words. At first blush, I think this is because Hulu.com uses Flash video (like YouTube), which isn't readily supported by QuickTime media playback in Second Life. General rule: if you can play a video in QuickTime Player, you can play it in Second Life. So, the workaround here is to convert the desired videos to QuickTime-compatible files (which is what I did with my video tutorials).
Hi Torley,
I got a quick question. Where did you get your avatar ( the one next to Totoro )?
Thanks.
E.
@earadriede: Glad you asked. It's by Grendel's Children in Avaria. Search for it and ye will hopefully find, or IM Flea Bussy and Psyra Extraordinaire… there are actually variants of this avatar in other cute forms!
