Posted on: September 14, 2005How's breakbeat bossa nova workin' out for you? COME. After a few entries of linking directly to Snapzilla JPGs, I've decided to revert to linking to the full pages with the images inset. Why? Part of it stems with being a part of a greater community, and reflecting the context pictures are immersed in. For example, sometimes another Resident will snap a great photo and I'll be off to chase where it came from, and take one of mine there too! I cannot deny that influence. Another reason is because I often make extensive comments detailing more spontaneous background behind the snapz, for you to enjoy. And of course, locations are automatically provided via "teleport to" links… ohso handy!
My friend Cottonteil Muromachi had me over at her sandbox?Carnforth (219, 186)?to bombard me with her creations. As is wellknown, I like to be saturated left and right with all kinds of wonder here in Second Life, Think of Amon Tobin's Splinter Cell 3 soundtrack, openly spacious with ambience and paranoidly claustrophobic at the same time! (Particularly on "Ruthless".) I like 2 be buried under boxes of goodies and have to swim my way up for air because of a propulsive driving force, that's how it gets. Cottonteil Muromachi really knows her stuff. This is an understatement. She is a masterbuilder, one of those rare characters who'll make a magnificent room from a train because a friend inspired her to. SL needs more trains…
In this Tale of Cotton, I asked her if she was going to set up shop, some sort of store, profit from her talents. She showed disinterest and… get this: BUILDS FOR FUN! I suspect if she ever does turn a quick Linden dollar, that it will merely be a desirable side effect. She is Asian, but that is not the only thing that makes her exotic! (Mindjail.) Her mind thinks at 90-degree angles, as shown in this concrete loft suited for a martial artist like Bruce Lee. She has an interesting approach to lights: in SL, when you say "lights on" in a house, the lamp objects will turn to white or change to material Light or somesuch thing, but in this case, hidden textures are revealed to paint glows on the walls. Otherwise, as she puts it, they are "occluded".
Besides being a supreme diviner of the prim, Cottonteil can build smaller things too. Like, o, grand pianos, synthesizers (with raised knobs instead of a flat texture!), glasses, and roses. This, I should add, is one of the finest models of grand piano architecture I've ever seen here. A strong, clean design. 100 prims even, full of power… doesn't play but is great for a showroom. It was at this point I began to ponder the possibilities of Cottonteil collaborating with scripters.
I earlier suggested to her that she should embark on an adventure of making a fast food building. The few joints of this type I've observed in SL are mint (such as Taco Hell on Taco). This ties in with being at the ExtroVirtual Island earlier?their headquarters had moved since the TT went missing. And oy, did I find, did I find such a marvellous pizza box.
It all points to things getting faster, but being able to slow down and appreciate the sights?especially if they come at you so rapidly, one after another!
