Flaggers part deux

Posted on: March 18, 2007

Gotta "let your freak flag fly", as Madcow Cosmos mirthfully mused to me not too long ago. A less-persistent soul would've stopped documenting the influx of Residents trying their hand at creating flexiprim flags in Harbinger's Haven sandbox, where I first set out to do it. As noted earlier, Madcow's been supplying me with visual evidence of the fun.

In our latest installment, I took his raw snapshots and turned them into something more closely resembling treasured memories. Polaroids, as we've seen from related SL inventions like Tiny Seadog's Oh Snap! board and Nylon Pinkney's toy camera, are sure to not only tug at the heartstrings, but play them for all the nostalgic flashbacks they're worth.

It's thus fitting that I laid out these to show you:

 Flaggers part deux

And yes, I used Filter Forge for the majority of effects you see here. There's an OMGorgeous Polaroid filter by Sjeiti I played 'round with; only after making this did I notice that two of the photos actually used the same preset, so that, if anything, is a giveaway that this is digital.

Because electronics make it easy to copy something bit-for-bit, and that type of replication is considered "unnatural". But then, even with the cloned frames, it's a relief that each Resident who's watched my vid and set forth on their flagging adventures has seen fit to add their own special touches and textures to what is now truely theirs.

Your world, your imagination — and certainly your flags!

The one in the top left is raising a Flemish flag. I wonder who it was. :d

Wish I had a name on that one too. If only we could embed more metadata into the photos themselves!
