Floats

I find saving snapshots to my hard drive in Second Life—using Save Texture As from the File menu—well, it's not well. It sucks. This doesn't have to do with lousy JPEG compression (I've already exerted my feelings on that when it comes to outbound postcards). Rather, it has to do with not preserving the original aspect ratio. Of course, how can it? When I upload a 4:3 picture into SL, it gets turned into either 1:1 or 2:1, depending on its resolution. And that looks awful, either too square or flattened heads. I have to manually resize each of my photos to see them as they were really taken.
