Golden Temple
Posted on: December 21, 2005I have an Uncle who used to be a gynecologist, and he's a freakin' genius. He really likes his vacations and good food, and sends a lot of piccies of what he's been up to. He's usually shown in a Hawaiian shirt, which makes sense because that's where he lives… when he's not vacationing somewhere like Thailand, which is where he's from originally. You know those cartoons where there's a wise turtle that measures every word he says ever-so-carefully, and lets none of it go to waste, and yet is more than content to bound into a pool of water and splash everyone? That's like my Uncle.
In his latest email, he wrote:
The following photos were taken from a beautiful temple in Roy Ed Province of Thailand by a friend of mine. It is called Wat Chedi Chai Monkol
Here are a few of the many pictures he sent:
And those are digitally unretouched. I haven't been to this specific temple, but I had visited some others in Thailand, and they're really like this, all glossamer and fit to be the scene of an MTV video—if only it wasn't so materialistic! This is Buddhist, after all.
I'd love to see architecture like this in Second Life.
