Good things come

Posted on: February 14, 2005

Today, I'll be working thematically with a pair of pix for each one of the adventures I'm going to highlight. My original Title for this note was going to be "Good things come in twos", but I decided against that.

First of all, Aimee Weber insisted I blog about a certain something her and our fellow Umberinos were setting up.?In her own words:

Aimee Weber: torley
Aimee Weber: blog me ho
Aimee Weber: you know you want to
Torley Torgeson: this is funneh cuz the first thing i always do with a photo is +++saturate it… for some reason
Torley Torgeson: heh
Torley Torgeson: no pressure :-)
Mistress Midnight: :O
Torley Torgeson: but this certainly qualifies as cool
Aimee Weber: blog me or die
Aimee Weber: :D
Aimee Weber: Yay!

Alright *PREEN* Queen, since you asked for it! And what is it that I find myself now blogging about? Why, it's Pleasantville, SL-stylee! Sort of. The openended "idea", according to Aimee, is that this is going to be a staging area for theatrics — such as a murder mystery and other creative endeavors. Yes, this build will actually be used in a practical — and prolly raunchy — way?knowing some of the people involved… for now though, it's oodles of fun just to get to your av dolled up all film noir and literally noir-et-blanc. I think I violated color codes (or lack thereof). It was a trip to walk through the set in 3D, and makes me wish there was a "Grayscale" checkbox button in the texture section of the Edit window. It'd be quite useful for things that need to be retinted, or nontinted, for that mind-over-matter.

I found myself logging into SL earlier today to do a lot of walking. That's right, walking. Cubey Terra came up with the notion to "go walkabout" and upon reading his thread, I was enthused to join him and our fellow avatars on the long walk. I entered midway through what amounted to be a journey of about?1 hour and 45 minutes, and towards the end leg, we even got Jack Linden to join us in our quest for footsteps. Cubey said that this was "completely pointless", but whether or not a tangible example of discrete logic could be woven out of the fabric of one leg after the other, I felt this was a true celebration of the spirit of Second Life. It was so encouraging to keep persisting on — and heck, it was FUN. At the end, clubel even made an appearance in her temporal home of Luna. Maybe next time, Cubey will lead us on a coordinated flight across the Agni gridverse. Wouldn't that be something to see? We'd be like the Blue Angels of SL, with more simcross disintegrations. Update: Olympia Rebus has just posted a most?excellent recollection of the adventure on her blog.

Deevyde Maelstrom and Spider Mandala beamed Jadey and I from our work in the SL Public?Library to have some fun playing Portal Wars (formerly Braniac War) in an open beta test. Science vs. Magic, fuschia vs. cyan as particles went wild and coolly-named gadgets went to work in the service of their avatar overlords.?Taking place in a large complex above the grounds of Gibson, teams fought to capture mono-'liths and eliminate members of the other team. Later in the game, Dee came out as a Nox — a third, nomadic team — and basically cloaked and PWNED us several times. Wellllll.?Gwyngwyngwyn, aka Gwyneth Llewelyn,?showed up with?shades and a black rose in her hair, and we briefly reminisced about the "catch a replicant" event?that was being considered for this cyberpunk city at one point.?Well, fascinating how things come together. At one point, Spider seemed to be on a team all his own, and went around on a killing spree. If this sounds exciting to you, IM Deevyde and Spider for more info, and stay tuned for forthcoming developments in the Portal Wars!

Kats Kothari has created an absolutely adorable new handbag that has instantly and intuitively become a?personal fave?upon holding it. I CAN'T LET GO!!!?=^.^=?One in a line of her Kats's Kitty Purses,?mine happens to be a specially-customized watermelon?edition that… well… it fits me like a glove, even though it's a purse.?The little kitty resting inside?totally completes the package, meowing cutely every few seconds. You can?mute her if?that's too much for you. Can ya say… THE CAT'S IN THE BAG!?!
