I was interviewed for The Infinite Mind

Posted on: October 8, 2006

O gleeful joy! Awhile ago, I recorded an interview with The Infinite Mind. Alas, the normal phone-quality sucked, so I redid things in digital (which makes it sound like a monologue…), and now the results are up!

Raven's Call

This episode of The Infinite Mind is actually the second installment in a 4-part series about Second Life. I'm featured alongside Nephilaine + Neil Protagonist, Trinity Serpentine + Nala Galatea, Pathfinder Linden and The Sojourner, and John Maeda (my herooo) wraps things up with chief interviewer John Hockenberry (who sounds really rousing when he goes "You da man!"). Me's smiling being involved with such a righteous lineup.

It was lot of fun to banter and LAUGH with June Peoples (Quirky McArdle in Second Life) and 'twas a thrilling, enjoyable experience overall. She and Aaron Read, Technical Director, are so nice to me. Sadly some of the best narrative (IMHO) was left on the cutting room floor, like the part where I compare the music composition process to sex. Some of my past was hard for me to talk about, but I'm relieved I found the strength to get it out — not for me, but for anyone who's felt their existence is messed-up and they're looking for blue skies for at least one day instead of dark fog continually rolling in.

Please note there are some inaccuracies in the description, e.g. I have "hyperacusis" (not "hyperacuity", which has to do with the eyes not ears), and my day job is Community Manager @ Linden Lab (not "music manager"). But I certainly found a wondrous new life through Second Life and altho I know it's not possible for everyone to have the same path and outcome, for anyone whose first life is better because of Second Life, I rejoice.

You can visit The Infinite Mind in Second Life.

And if you need something to play the "Listen Now" .RAM stream, I recommend Media Player Classic over the bloaty RealPlayer.
