[IDEA] If you possess liquid self-awareness, you can master systems!

And just what is liquid self-awareness?

First, let's look at being self-aware: science fiction shows will often make a point that sentient life is self-aware. It's not a discrete state, however: more of a continuum, quickly made obvious by the many human beings who know who they are, yet abuse themselves. Beyond the stereotypical drunk or junkie, there are lots of people who appear to live a healthy life, but really don't, and they're not really self-aware, because something bothers them everyday — some inadequacy, some insecurity, and it troubles them continually and greatly.

You might go, "Well, no one is perfect."

Of course not, but it's not enough to just know about your problems — you go to great lengths to deal with them. Again, not a discrete state, since like you must feed yourself every day, you must also feed your mind and soul (not just meant spiritually, but the inexpressible ESSENCE of who we each are) with positivity so you can be creative. "Creative" not just as in "I'm making art", but being resourceful, generative, and finding ways to cope with what doesn't make sense in the world. You glide and flow — and that's why I call it LIQUID self-awareness.

Like stages of grief, I suspect there's stages of self-awareness. There's not a fine line between them, but a shading over, and often, only in hindsight with clearer perspective can you recognize.

LIQUID SELF-AWARENESS involves…

a heightened state of knowing who you are and what it is you want out of life, and being able to achieve that through iterative actions, like drops of water grouping together to form a stream. It involves challenging yourself and your worldviews, and acknowledging your failures. Sometimes openly and humiliating yourself before others, so your doubts may be cast free and you'll be unburdened.

Get me right: your life will always have problems. Everyone's life does. There are certain defects that're built into each one of us from the time we're in our mothers' wombs, and I don't just mean DNA mutations which lead to cancer — but among other genetic defects, evolution and adaptation requires that we enter uncomfortable realms and never settle for a false state of stability.

The battered wife has learned helplessness.

And the abusive husband has forced his aberrant worldview on her. Thus, as he believes, she acts. This is not a judgment, but an observation. So many humans think they are above animals yet are unable to overcome the mindjails, the social conditioning traps we've placed ourselves and each other in: from being pressured go to a party you really don't want to but don't speak up against, to being involved in high-school-style drama when you should've outgrown it decades ago, to more serious issues like the aforementioned abuse.

In The Watchmen (I haven't seen the film yet), the character Dr. Manhattan has evolved greatly beyond mere mortals. He perceives time non-linearly, and as such, has become untethered, detached from human affairs. This is not just because he wanted to be some big blue floating jerkass , but his NEW EXPERIENCES — essential to LIQUID SELF-AWARENESS — have freed him from what I call "lowmindedness", the gnawing urge to be less of yourself because it's the stupid way out. But like toxic chemicals, being a lowmind will never satisfy your hunger. It'll inhibit and rot your personality.

Free personality -> liquid self-awareness

While none of us are omniscient, we can always strive for new experiences. Our childhood years tend to be packed with them, but as adults, we grow into comfort zones, and the rate of novelty diminishes. My favorite thing is to know where my established happiness is so I may always travel back there, but at the same time, realize that due to my growth, I can travel further — to lands I've never been before, that will shatter some of my preconceptions of reality and how I perceive it. And become happier!

Tangent-but-relevant: if you've ever wondered why scammers are so bold, it's because they're persistently testing these boundaries and experiencing riches at the cost of other human beings. (In some cases, being spurred on by thinking "I have nothing to lose", even if that's factually not the case.) I wish more good people of the world (as tough as it can be to define) would step up and broaden positive experiences, enlighten the many who are too scared to speak up for themselves today, but may be tomorrow's teachers.

LIQUID SELF-AWARENESS means the mastery of systems.

For specific instance, I've listened to highlights from just about every style of music humankind has created. I've gone deep into the ones that've interested me most, and I can see threads of influence weaving throughout the whole mess, spotting connections where people with limited musical knowledge fail to realize, including snobs who claim to know a lot but are infact AFRAID to explore. This puts me and anyone else who can do it on a higher level to apply such knowledge to musical works.

Since music is both qualitative and quantitative, there are emotional aspects which are of relative variety (as they should be), and there are mathematical foundations which provide a common frame of reference. Explaining this to someone who doesn't "get it" is futile — it's like teaching biochemistry to a bee. They must culture their own liquid self-awareness; this they can be proud of. Again, not a judgment, but an observation. Anyone who evolves is entitled to be ashamed of who they were. Manifesting a result and being able to explain its wonder are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! And one is best off having both.

TODAY'S WORLD craves cross-disciplinary creativity.

If you've ever heard the effects of Auto-Tune as featured in Cher's "Believe" and various T-Pain songs,

know that its inventor, Andy Hildebrand, tracked earthquakes and used autocorrelation pitch-mapping technology so the pop charts would benefit! Unlikely but true. Since he's already claimed that, there'll not be another who accomplishes exactly like him, but strive for a diverse array of experiences you can integrate, rather than a small pool. The world and what's in it for you becomes so much apparent when you know this.

META

LIQUID SELF-AWARENESS can be like the equivalent of a TV character breaking the 4th wall and addressing the audience. It's a META-level (highest order referential to lesser hierarchies) of consciousness which brings a fresh perspective. Ask yourself:

"Are you doing things because you really believe in them, or just because that's how it's always been done?"

Most people do as they're told.

It's more important to tell as you do.
