I've had this idea for a script kicking around: there's this telepathic ape they (somewhat) affectionately name "Roddy Spanx". He's a primate master of primal possibilities and he learns to squawk humanese. Eventually he refuses to stop reciting phi because it bores him, and his now-famous scientist companions take him for a walk outside. To the mall. But Roddy gets loose and takes pleasure in blurting out each and every person's deepest secret. In doing so, this relatively small town is both torn apart and brought together — love becomes requited, fake best friends break up, and people come to terms with their lifelong dreams.
But, a twist: sometime later and not a media darling (since which self-respecting journalist wants to have their secrets revealed on live TV? Or at least, to their camera crew?), Roddy comes in contact with another ape, "Bourbon Brownstone", who is less intuitive but able to deduce — and announce! — Roddy's deepest secret…
I just haven't decided what that will be yet.
