I'm enjoying Clipmarks 2.0
Posted on: March 1, 2007As introduced on the Clipmarks blog, 2.0 of their lickity-snippity site has been unveiled. I'm enjoying the new compact toolbar button more — now, it only expands when actively clipping.
I continue to run the Clipmarks WordPress plugin in my right sidebar, so those are some highlights throughout my days I'm sharing.
I found this downtime message before the upgrade to be particularly wonderful:
Can you see me?
Some observations:
- Clipmarks 2.0 has added the ability to clip videos, altho on some pages, like this over-the-top "Bill Gates vs. Steve Jobs" video, the "Clip Video" link isn't working for me.
- Wish tags could be auto-inserted based on other content, like words in the clip itself. Sometimes in a hurry, I just copy words from the "Your Remarks" field into there, and keep it terse. Not ideal, but typing — and even selecting from "My Tags", which is even slower for me — takes extra time. Shaving all those seconds really helps! Similarly, the "Title" field could often be used to generate tags.
- On that note, I'm still looking forward to having full-text search on Clipmarks: on Flickr, for example, I find it incredibly convenient to search via multiple text fields.
- Clipmarks' rounded-corner boxes reminds me of Mac OS X's drawers. Which is a good thing.
- Looks like the Dashboard, which I'm very fond of, either has no accessible link from the main toolbars, or I'm missing something.
- I also wish the WordPress plugin could show image thumbnails as shown on the Dashboard. Visuals help break up textual monotony and add to the flow.
