Incredible Watermelon Creations
Posted on: January 11, 2007Thanx to all my friends who emailed me a link to this page.
I'm happy you relate me to the majestic melon. Now, I must pause and (again) contemplate what would be better: eating these melons or learning to carve one for myself.
There's a ripe symbolism in the juices of the watermelon: a willingness to be molded, sculpted, reshaped into forms analogous to other aspects of human familiarity. Flexibility in fruit, versatility from vines. And then, a breath, a pause —
I once marvelled at the artisan melon- and ice-carvers at various Thai buffets. O, how they worked their craft, day after day, making these masterpieces which would neither be consumed nor have any comforting sense of permanance.
O, how I weep tears of joy for the future of melonkind.
BLESSED BE THY NAME, O SWEET WATERMELON!
