Inworld explorations continue!
Posted on: January 11, 2007Gosh, feels like forever since I've done one of these! Lately, I've been deliberate about spending more time inworld. I feel embarrassed if I'm not in touch with what's happening. Granted, the world has grown so much in size, scope, and various measurable units, but there'll always be highlights — and I can never get enough of those!
Nowadays, I have a much nicer setup than I did when I first started blogging about Second Life: with dual monitors, I can keep Windows Live Writer in one and Firefox in the other, and drag pictures from my browser to this editor. It's literally a snap! And thanx to the encouragement of my Flickr inspiration (aiiii-ya!) and optical nutritionist, Kisa Naumova, I've grown my collection there a lot: at present, 3,519 photos. With many more to come, I hope. SLBuzz has provided me with such an easy gateway for crossposting with added tags. So really, it's been the evolution of one piece after another, and more is happening right now…
Lest I run wild with the words, it's PICTURE-TIME! I usually leave spur-of-the-moment comments on Flickr, but in hindsight, I may have something extra to say. Here are some of those extras:
Ryozo Kojima introduced me to the OmniPhaze: it's a double-dash-activated "short-range teleporter". Quickly tap twice in a direction, and you're there. It also has basic particle effects, which you can customize the color of. Notably, Ryozo also had the charming idea of founding a Linden Town Hall Discussion Group.
Another reason why I like Town Halls is because of the multitudes of varied avatars they attract: who woulda thunk that a bone dragon with a taste for popcorn would be one of our guests? All I can think of, from my Castlevania days, is battling such fiends with a whip in the *gasp* moonlight! But here, we're on good terms.
Experiments in local lighting after using changing the sun some. See what a sombre, almost David Lynchian tone the one to the right has? These are well-made umbrellas, and I almost could call for wine while my eyes shift nervously for assassins. Like out of one of those mafioso movies or Hitman games, but this is apparently from The L Word.
I can't pass up such a tasty platter, especially when pineapple and watermelon are together! Yes, I'm a converted Pineapplealien. Or something.
Brilliant HUD tactics by Kru Flan, who also made the Katz tuxedo I'm wearing — incl. hair ornamental, and ruffly tie. I feel like a classical music composer. Kru did the pose too. She's versatile like that. And o, the suit comes with an assortment of ties.
Was kinda nostalgic to see this Torley Sr. avatar box while I was exploring the German orientation area sims. I think YadNi Monde took the screenshot — thx YadNi. (And I haven't forgotten about "joint time".)
Micro-snowglobes by Marbles Tokyo. He said he knew I'd like them, and he was right on the mark. I dig miniatures. I look forward to what sort of compact craftiness he comes up with next. On the left piccie, that red thing is MELONZILLA's nose.
Midian City, which you must visit. That is, if you like well-designed atmospherics, precision vehicle modelling, friendly people, and a fat, whopping hunk of cyberpunk. Definite Blade Runner vibes here; I wonder what more influences chief architect Baal Zobel has. A standout build and one of the best I've seen into '07 so far. Need I mention you can hang out, but there's also a role-playing game theme? Incredible.
Further proof this is one of those rare constructs where it's hard to take a bad picture:
Evocative, provocative, bold, and beautifully assembled. Kinda like an origami unicorn assembled by a roundtable of robots with souls.
Now, if you wanna visit any of these locations inworld, click a picture and you'll see a SLurl.
Thanx for coming on the ride with me!
