Japan

There was a casual observation I made some years back, about electronic music genres generally getting 10 BPM (Beats Per Minute) faster each year. Drum 'n' bass is one example, going from the better part of 150 BPM (after the whole hardcore with breakbeats thing) to 160, 170, 180 soforth. Last I checked, it had not just levelled off, but splintered every which way to extremes. We came across such peculiarities as the jagged, smashered edges of drill 'n' bass as a virus infecting the dumbosity of intelligent dance music?and I'm still surprised stuttercore was never a more-uttered term. Problem when you rip off a branch, it's not gonna make fruit anymore. You can eat what's left but you gotta get back to the source, and hug the trunk. Y'all with me now? HUG THE TRUNK!!!

Second Life is growing some Japanese roots. I can't read Japanese but I like a lot of aspects of the culture. Rather than generalize on that, or even say "I AM ANIME OTAKU!" (which I am not), I'll continue to specifically point to a growing number of talented content creators who are either from abroad, or are in North America and guilelessly demonstrate their aptitude for doing their own thing while wearing inspirations+influences proudly on said sleeves.

Kru Flan says she's really Japanese. She doth run a Boutique with sound aesthetic design. She makes clothes based on popular Japanese street fashions. Far be it from me to differentiate?yet?but I'm learning. Kru's packaging is just as tasty as the clothes inside?and while quite noir and not watermelony out of the box, it is modcopiable so I have chances to experiment. I bought most of the store, except the free schtuff. SHE SENT ME A BONUS GIFT AFTER! How nice. I haven't really talked to Kru yet but here's her notecard… some's missing 'cuz I can't display SL landmarks here.

Mustelid Carnot has a suitably creepy art show of Japanese horrors on. Admission is free, donate if you like. Sample scariness. The piccie to the right is of upstairs of Musty's Itachi-Shima shoppe of Japanese goodies @ Geometer (219, 59). "Designs for a more Japanese life". Situated on a cute lil' island, it's kind of like Japan. Japan Japan Japan

(Or I could be like Stephenson and say "Nipponese"; not the cheese.)
