Koinup WindLight art exhibit + Jax Streeter concert
Posted on: May 20, 2008Congrats to each and all the winners, honorable mentions, and participants in Koinup's WindLight Contest. Serving as juror alongside Pastrami Linden and Vint Falken, I really enjoyed such a delectable palette of tones brushed over digital canvas — in particular, while it wasn't a prerequisite, I liked seeing which original presets of mine were used and modified, in some cases to almost-not-recognizable degrees. (But what is a mother if she doesn't recognize her children?
)
Vint Falken (as often) has a great post about what happened today: Ravenelle (as Ducky) and me (as Torberry aka Pink Sneaker) attended the inworld event @ the Cannery which included an art exhibit + live music by the Jax Streeter Band. In particular, I found his crunch-metal version of Gwen Stefani's "Keep On Dancin'" to be particularly appealing; sort of had 80s vibes to it too. But what especially was rockin' was the varied particles he did and applause sounds, which might sound tacky written on paper, but really added to the enthusiasm of the crowd (AFAICT).
Sharp eyes may've noticed juliet Herberle of Chouchou fame in the audience; like Jax Streeter, they're musical performers who only exist in Second Life.
These included snapshots were slightly post-processed to give them an analogue touch; yes, there are varied WindLight presets used and I could've done more, but had a work meeting to run teleport to after… see the full set of 50!
