Magic For Free

Ever wondered how to make a doubleknot with a single prim in SL? Wonder no more. Cottonteil Muromachi shares her secret. I thank her for granting my wish and hope she'll have more primagic to show us in the not-so-distant future of this virtual reality. If it's too hard for you to type in numbers, just IM me inworld and I'll send you a fullperms doubleknot of your own that you can then study, dissect, and perhaps use as part of a larger project. Also makes a great pet. Courtesy of Cotton!
Beautiful sunrises+sunsets await you in Second Life. Keep scrolling down to be refreshed. 1.7 solar gradients are even more beautiful than 1.6. Keep an eye out for when the dawn breaks. I wonder what the next version will bring?
I'd like to express my deepest gratitude to Stella Costello. 14 years ago (which is almost a decade-and-a-half), I had a dream of wearing a sushi shoehat. This is something I've muttered on and off to various friends inworld. Saying is not the same as doing, however?altho one may lead to another?and not being a talented sculptor of prims, I was unable to realize this myself. Nor is it my place. Today, something changed, and Stella made my dream come true.
"Sushi shoehat" is the yummiest headpiece I have ever worn. It's best seen in 3D because like a Super Star Destroyer, it's difficult to capture from all angles. It has three "wings" which are not unlike those of a Peking Opera troupe member. The sushi and cup of what I presume is tea is precariously balanced as I defy gravity.
I'd like to take this time to talk a little more about my background. I am part Hakka Chinese. The Hakka have a unique culture which includes a number of tribal customs. It's believed at one time, "Hakka" used to be a pejorative term, but then was adopted by the people themselves with pride. Sound familiar? Hakka women have a tradition of scholastic excellence, which explains my Grandma on my Mom's side, because she's reallyreally smart.
After a prompting from my Uncle Ritt via email, I was looking at photos of Hakka heritage. As always, the Wikipedia article is superb, but what particularly got me thinking about how this relates to SL is this specific page of Hakka architecture. Almost looks like spacecakes dropped from the heavens. We have void waters in SL for recreation, but what about void grasslands, deserts, tundra? (Not just new land waiting to be sold.) They could be an extension of sandboxes, allowing for nomadic encampments. I've never seen a 3-day autoreturn time before and I imagine human nature would sadly get in the way (again), but I would go this far to partake in a type of "future primitive" society in Second Life.
Plum is underrated. If you didn't know this before, you do now!
