Metaversatility Promo Ad
Posted on: December 21, 2006Adri Saarinen graciously let me know about a promo ad made by Bliargh Dada for their Metaversatility team that I really enjoyed. Usual disclaimer that I don't endorse teh b1z applies; it just happens to possess a combo of my fave stylistic elements, including:
- Portmanteau in the company name
- Classical music (what piece is that? Chopin?)
- Tight editing chops
- Showing the innards of a Gmail inbox
- Monochrome-to-color transition
- Morphing between a First Life and Second Life face
- Showing the process of building
- Stylized, spinning logos (a la pastel blue Mondrian?)
- Bold camera panning
- Multiple avatars flying to gather in a single place
- Time-lapse photography (YES!!!!)
- Carving a good chunk of a sim into a distinct design
Aye, that's a lot of good-in-one. As the bar of quality keeps getting nudged higher, future admakers would do good t'learn. Have a look:
I can also relate to Metaversality's website describing this:
Community connections are key to understanding currents in virtual worlds. We spend endless hours “living the virtual life,” and can share insider information about what will be successful and what might be considered a virtual faux pas.
… something which can never be obvious enough! Surely, a great theme which really hasn't been explored satisfactorily — to my knowledge — and there's no shortcuts for the actual, empirical, inworld experience.

Bliargh, I dunno, that looked pretty organized to me! Great in an age of short attention spans, that's for sure.
