Miscellot
Posted on: December 2, 2006I pray to the great avatar g0ds above, below, and in metaspaces beyond, that they blesseth our engineeres, and Second Life shall heal from the databasical flogging it hath endured. I hath been there, I hath blogged about it again and again and again and again and again and again etc.
One of the nice things of my job is blogging, because blogging involves communication. I even got to do a "Hey! What happened to my comment?" post. So in the midst of the storm, I want to give personal thanx to each and everyone who wrote me IMs, sent me emails, commented on this here personal blog — I've also passed along a lot of supportive words to fellow Lindens, including compliments about new features. Some of them will need the grid to be healthier before they can be fully enjoyed.
On that topic, anyone know an easy way to optimize my site for the new Web Profiles? I've a 384×384 placeholder image there (the dimensions of the panel are 400×400), but haven't found a nice "mobile converter". Sounds like something someone shoulda made.
I'm pleased Matt Brett made multicolor RSS icons; maybe that'll save me a trip to the hue controls next time, since mine are PINK.
If you're into point-and-click adventures, lazylaces is a nice site. Most of the games didn't appeal to me, but the few that did on the "what's hot" are pretty nice gems. Still looking to see if anyone, today, made something to rival the quality of Myst (10+ years ago).
Or maybe it's just my Cosmic Osmoian pancreatics firing up again.
I have a lot to write — feels like I've been away from home in a sense, and staying at another home while @ the Official Linden Blog. Maybe if tomorrow's quiet(er), I can share more of what I've been up to.

Try Alex King's Wordpress Mobile Edition plugin (http://alexking.org/projects/wordpress)

Torley, first of all, thanks for your unbounded energy and concern in keeping a population of nearly 1.8 million people happily informed. That requires a degree of patience that I'm positively amazed at how you can deal with it
Cardie has an excellent suggestion. Just make sure you add a new line on the plugins/wp-mobile.php to include (about line 64 or so) the following:
,'Second Life'
It'll recognise then that the browser being used is of the "mobile" persuasion, and do a much more condensed version of your blog
Tateru Nino has also done a "resized" version of her own blog with the appropriate dimensions to fit into her profile; you might ask her about the exact dimensions she uses.

Thanks for your hard work, Torley. I was fighting my own battles this week, and wasn't even on SL to suffer any of the post-update belly aches, but give everyone in the Lab(no s) a hug from all of us, the Residents.
Also, by chance, have you heard of Inagaki Taruho? I think you'd really like his writing.

Miscellot, you crack me up! Love your attitude.
p.s. I'm not going to punch your ticket, as you already get praise and commendation aplenty. . .no room left on the ticket for another punchhole.
Thanks for everything; you know, like saving the world, etc.

Switch to Sandbox, convert your current theme to CSS, then supply an additional stylesheet with the correct <link media="" /> attribute specified.

Thanx Cardie, I'll give that a looksee!
Gwyn that's too sweet of you! Everybody should know I respect my inspiration, and you were one of my first mentors in Second Life. It's been over two years. Over time, what's good, pure, and true only reinforces itself to me further, while the negative redundancy falls away. Happiness is a universal goal to strive towards, even in the light of suck.
I also asked Tat about how she did her Web Profile, thanx.
Yer welcome, Elix, and I haven't heard of Inagaki… *adds to check out*
Nuff, I'd say I am crazy like a fox but that isn't entirely accurate. Ha ha ha! "Punch your ticket", arrrr there's a new expression for me! Thanks.
Marv: Looks pretty cool what that does, thank-you!
