@DarkLight: That's a great origin story (I love knowing how things came to be, the history in the name). Also, factoid for you, Jeska Linden chose the last name "Talamasca" to be included in Second Life. So that's another piece in the puzzle.

@Ravenelle: <3

@Mark: Thanks again for your productivity tips and listening! Ah, the music so forthrightly sounds like a piano, but I'll leave the innards + mechanics a mystery for now. ;)

It's evolved quite a bit, having to do mostly with religion. I grew up in a Christian household and my parents had a pretty good handle on things, but the churches we went to... well, didn't. We got burned pretty badly (figuratively speaking, of course), so I adopted the name TheDarkChristian to dissociate myself from people who claim to love their neighbor, then turn around and stab them in the back.

Things got so bad after a while that I didn't want to be associated with Christianity at all. It's not that I disagree with the principles or tenets; I just don't like how so many people carry them out. Hypocrisy makes me sick...

Having studied some other religions, ideologies and moral codes (including Taoism and Scientology) and finding bits of good in all of them that fit my worldview, I continued to acknowledge that we are eternal beings (most systems agree on this point, one way or another), that I have darkness within me (who doesn't?) and also acknowledging the inherent dichotomies within, I adopted the name DarkLightEternal. It's unique enough that I don't have to add characters or numbers to it in most places, but is one character too long for many bulletin boards. :D

In Second Life, I saw that the last name "Talamasca" was available and seized on it. You probably know already, but the Talamasca are the watchers from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. They are aware of the paranormal, and many of them have special abilities of one kind or another, but for the most part they watch and don't act. Having such dark overtones, I thought it fit me pretty well. :)

Well, that's about it. Certainly not my life's story, but the origin of one's chosen pseudonym reveals much, neh? (BTW, while typing this, I'm praising your music to a singer friend of mine. She loves your story. ^_^)

@DarkLight: Thank you for taking the time to share this, and no worries! I'm smiling knowing you've shared my music with your loved ones. Thank you for this too. Yeah, I've had to put up with a lot of crap over the years, still do, but like I wrote — and continue to do — it's essential to be in motion. Being depressed never help me solve a problem effectively, but attacking obstacles affirmatively, in retrospect, has added up to a lot.

I've never seen Meet the Robinsons, will now look it up to learn more.

Feedback is important; how would I know what effect what I'm doing has otherwise? So I very much treasure comments like these. Thanx so much again, keep growing and may your DarkLight shine — what's the story behind your name? I like origin tales! =D

Downloading now. If these are half as inspired as 1 and 2, I'm sure most of the tracks will end up on my mp3 player and piano cds as gifts to family. :) Let me just say that yous music, as well as your story (we're about the same age, after all) have inspired me to keep going when I didn't think I could. You have so many reasons to be bitter, but instead you bring goodness, cheerfulness and friendliness to all you do. I'm not sure I can be as effortlessly effervescent as you, but trying certainly helps me come out of my shell a bit.

Speaking of mistakes, I saw "Meet the Robinsons" tonight. When you see it you'll understand why that's relevant. :) "Keep moving forward" indeed.

So once again, let me say thank you for being you, and for continuing to share your wonderful gifts (musical and otherwise) with everyone, free of charge and asking nothing more than feedback in return. ^_^
