My blog title entries are more often related to the literary matter at hand than not?it's just that it's sometimes not that obvious. It could have to do with my mental state, or something I'm thinking of when writing, like a B-plot, which is there but may not peek out. I'll share what "North Star" means to me: it is not only a fine ocean liner in a parallel dimension, but a choice tune as originally composed by Philip Glass (the choral parts) and riffed on by big, stomping "lemming" drums (I call them that 'cuz of their relentless marchosity) and mournful-yet-celebratory guitar solos that sound like a lonely cat trying to find her way home. The beginning sounds like a fisherman dancing on a pier counting his catch, toe-tappingly good, before the passages snake in one by one like looms weaving flesh for burn victims. There's some pleasant syncopation, bonded piano riffing in there, and just a really intricate piece of music disguised?as a?jolly good time, which is rare on the whole that I've come across?and what's more, it's actually the 4th and final section of a quadrilogy. So take that greatness and multiply by four.
Now that I've explained that, I can continue: in a wideeyed state without much sleep, I continued to hammer away at the little corners of this site with a fine chisel. Learning CSS in this practical environment's made me feel a lot better about having both the knowledge and the control to present my content as I want. What's more, the concepts I've learned are applicable to what I do in the future. Some little experiments I've got on the go, like the new music player to the left?you may have noticed?a way for me to make my music more accessible to you. PRESS PLAY TO PLAY. ^_^?I went through several of these embedded players, quite a laborious waste of time, before coming across Fabricio Zuardi's XSPF Web Music Player. The text may be a bit too small and scrunchy and the interface is so dull gray, but the upshot is that in light of the other elements on my blog, it's a nice contrast, especially right above the Alternative Route logo. But, it's open source,?so I'll let it sit for now.
Speaking of Alternative Route Recordings, I'd also like to mention that?Desyn Masiello and Luke Fair's "Jumbo Prawns" (cute name, eh?) of "Xristophan" happens to be?the featured penultimate track?on Luke's own new mix album,?Original Series: OS_03 on Bedrock Recordings. Link linky linkesque links?LINKZ.?You can get it from Amazon or check more options.
O, and one more thing about "Xristophan" for now?the music player includes a sublimely flowing?acoustic piano version of it, played by yours truely. Or download the "xristospiano"?MP3 here.
I'm hoping Blog-City, my fine host, gets complete archive view soon enough. Currently, if you view a past month, it shows entries as the title and summary, which is simply not good enough. Altho, it was only recently that summaries started showing up, so one improvement there. That's the crux of my current Blogger or WordPress envy. A few other features I would want but they can wait until after I've figured out why A:hover styles aren't displaying the same in IE as Firefox. Hrmph, cross-browser, cross-platform problems can be such a woe.
Here's a beautiful flower for ya. Unsurprisingly, it's called Watermelon Candy. I do not think it tastes like a Jolly Rancher, but it is still sweet in its own way. Another page that makes me flush.?In the future, I can only look forward as Google and other search technology advances cataloguing to make my webbrowsing obsession for watermelons and watermelon-related thingamaroos a more joyful one. I wonder what an alcoholic beverage which consists of a watermelon base yet burns and is minty at the same time would be like. Shortly thereafter, enter: Torley the lush.
