[OLB] How to report bugs better
Posted on: July 5, 2007The following's crossposted from the Official Linden Blog:
Friendly greetings! You’re reading the latest in a series of posts in which I’m covering issues of importance to our community. There are common themes connected in a variety of ways, and ultimately, this is a great opportunity to help indulge curiosities I’ve personally heard many times. So at least once a week, I’ll be sharing. ![]()
Today, I’ve got some tips ‘n’ tricks on bug reporting — not an end-all, but hopefully enough stuff to boost your confidence using the Issue Tracker, especially if you’re non-technical and feel intimidated. Don’t worry. I understand.
^ That’s my avatar in a recent internal build of the WindLight viewer, snapshotted yesterday. What was I doing?

Hey Torley! I just submitted my first JIRA. Not for a bug though. Instead I am proposing a "No Naked Nubies" type of fix so that there is a blue screen option between selecting "Remove all clothes" and actually being rendered naked. Spending time in the Public Orientation & Public Help Islands has shown me that too many just don't take that option literally. Not a high priority but would surely save on some traumatic moments for newbies.

@Tinsel: Thanks, and thanks for coming to my office hour too. I'll look up the issue you submittied. Your concern is a similar one I've heard before, especially because, it's very easy (and that's a good thing) to be heavily invested in your avatar appearance; I know another of my pet peeves is that it's too easy for new Residents to inadvertently replace clothing without warning.
@Komuso: Social breakdowns bug me lots, and we've had internal discussions about overhauling these unreliable systems for a better long-term solution. I get very frustrated because they tend to be compound problems, e.g., a musician sends out a group notice canceling a show, some people don't get it, and they get mad at the musician, who then in turn is upset with LL. Understandable!
Cool to hear about the Voice Busking, I'm gonna have a look… or hear… you may be a pioneer!

For the past 2-3 days when i log out at night and come back the next morning its saying that i am already logged in and SL is in the process of logging me out and that takes anywheres from 5 to 10 mins for the log out process. I have changed my password and it is still doing the same thing. I dont know what else to do or where to go to try to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
