Hey everyone- this is Pastrami Linden- project leader of the WindLight team here at Linden Lab. Well, you've waited for it, you've asked about it… and here it finally is! The re-release of the WindLight First Look! As many of you first experienced in May, WindLight is a beautiful, physics-based sky and cloud rendering system which makes Second Life much more visually compelling. We rolled out a very early First Look earlier this year, and have been hard at work since then improving the visual quality, stability, and feature set available.

    Whoa, that's a whole trainload of new controls to play around with, Torley! But it's more than worth it - this is *A*W*E*S*O*M*E*! Snapshotting and making portraits will never be the same again!

    *jumps up and down in sheer joy*

    And yeah, of course the first shot I took was a sunset ;-)

    PLEASE PLEASE don't take it away again. Leave this activated as an alternative viewer until the real version comes out. It gives me so much pleasure seeing Second Life look like this.

    I was so excited to try it out again but was very disappointed to see that the issue with water on GeForce GO cards in XP still isn't fixed. I have reopened the JIRA and linked to others with the same problems, but it's very disheartening to have a more than capable system and not be able to enjoy the beauty too. In fact, it's downright depressing.

    Here's hoping someone can really fix this bug.

    Hey Torley! Can I make a suggestion for a future knowledge base article of the week (or tip of the week)?
    I've been talking to fellow residents to try and understand what all the new "custom" graphics options are. Could someone create a glossary of sorts, maybe with before/after snapshot examples?

    We have no plans to take WindLight away again. I hope WindLight is here to stay! Thanks for your support.
