One of my fave types of movie scenes…

2007-06-20

is when a new employee starts working for a megacorp and they're asked to deliver a package upstairs, coming across rather eventful happenings along the way. For some reason that excites me so much.

And the funniest thing is I recall seeing this in numerous films, but can't remember which ones have it. Do you know?

The Hudsucker Proxy. If you have not seen it, do so. Trust me.

That reminds me of the classic joke to pull on new people in your company – you send them off to another floor do something impossible like finding the 'dossier for lost documents'. Then you phone ahead of their arrival and make sure they are kept busy, running through the building ;)

I knew you were behind that, Laetizia. And I don't even know you. Isn't there a scene like that in Brazil? Or am I just remembering that the film feels like an endless run through a bureaucratic nightmare.

@Ilsa: AHHHH! You've helped me fill in a blank. I think that's just about the only part of the Hudsucker Proxy I've seen, years ago, on a TV in a store. Someday I've got to complete the whole thing.

@Laetizia: Haha, HILARITY ENSUES.

@Alexander: I think Brazil does have a similar scene, but yeah, the film is pretty much a darkly dystopian and drudging view on work in the future. I tried to watch it but fell asleep. (Irony?)

@Benja: I haven't seen that but I'm a big Michael J. Fox fan.

Thx for the suggestions each and everyone!
