I've had mixed luck with WordPress upgrades in the past, namely that I've run into "fatal errors" on more than one occasion. This time en route to 2.3.1, it happened to me again, but I remembered to delete the plugin named in the message, refreshed the page, then it let me upgrade my database as expected.
I know I should be deactivating WP plugins before an upgrade, but in my case, there are usually about 25-odd ones. Tip for toggling: use Firefox or another tabbed browser, so you can Activate/Deactivate in parallel via clicking each link in a new tab instead of slowly sluggin' about it in serial and waiting for the page to reload.

I always wait a few weeks before upgrading to see if they iron out any initial bugs with Wordpress.
We'll just have to await a Torley wordpress theme, I'm sure you'd do a good job of it!
@Ciaran: I usually wait some time too! But it had been months since I upgraded to a new WordPress; perhaps a collarary is that I don't go with versions that end in ".0". And thx re: "Torley WordPress theme", for now this Tiga theme which I modded will have to do, I suppose!
And is that a new page background I see? It looks good
Hey Torely, did you see the little "deactivate all" button at the bottom of the plugins page? I'm not sure if this a new feature with 2.3.1 but in any case, it's there — no more wading through 25 screens

@Daed: I changed the ol' organic tiled watermelon insides with a darkened version of "Crystal Roses" from Torley Textures LOVE. GLad you noticed!
@Yuu: I now see that button in WP 2.3.1, but don't think I remember seeing it in earlier versions!
@starcomber: Hm, I don't have a *particular* adversion to Movable Type but I use WordPress primarily because it meets my needs. A lot of the plugins I use aren't available as MT widgets.
