Productivity posts & pretty pictures
Posted on: May 21, 2008
There're many productivity and lifehack-oriented blogs out there which include a pretty picture along with their inspirational text. Quite often, it's a sunset. I hardly see moonlight, but other popular clichés include:
- Someone in silhouette heading towards a sunset
- Close-up shots of food/vegetation
- Cute and wondrous animals (or babies)
- Really fit, flexible people
- Something quirky and amusing to be "different"
Like this:
Basically, a good mix of what you see on popurls' Flickr section at any given time. And rightfully so, some of the most "interesting" photos from that site.
Zen Habits didn't invent this form, but it certainly popularized it. Not many blogs have had fun with it, but The Growing Life, run by the affable Clay Collins, has certainly parodied it to great effect. *claps* I appreciate what he did, because lame copycats whose voices aren't unique aren't helping. Bound to happen anyway (as with any successful "trend"), but I'm not surprised when sub-Xerox crap happens.
My own contribution to the whole pool happens to be including pictures of my Second Life with my productivity posts. Like the above. Thanks, WindLight geniuses, for helping a great deal with the sunsets.
Thomas Hawk favorited a couple, like this:
and he's one of the bestest photographers on Flickr. I think that's pretty awesome.
