Like synth stabs from an 80s toybox, it emerged: I found myself getting very muddled without a better way to keep track of all the slips and dips of information that transiate throughout my two lives. After some websearches, I yielded fruit.
I've used notetaking programs before, and I often found the user interfaces got in the way of, well, actually using and interfacing with the app to take notes. So this may be a relatively little-known gem on Internet, and as a gem I do hope it continues to grow, but I've gotta spread the word. A YUMMY FREEBIE! EverNote. (If you want handwriting recognition for use with a stylus, there is a pay-for Plus version.)
So, I've set EverNote up and am now recording scraps and minutae into its heart. The website is presented very freshly, and there's even a little animated tutorial that shows you what it can do for you. It's feeling quite organic like a flowerbed, and I'm awed not just by the very slick, intuitive setup, but how quickly it grew on me. I'm not feeling I have to fight against it, which is a rare thing when I am on a computer. It's easy to make a clutter and then tidy it up, so I've been throwing in flotsam, jetsam, and cheongsam—SL scribblets and things I should check out, as well as the many lateral thoughtlines that attack me when inspiration strikes…
If only more software was this soft!
