Road Trip
Posted on: November 9, 2005
The other day, Francis Chung, Kzzch Prefect, and I went on a roadtrip (intentionally oneword). First, I drove in my watermelonized Dominus Shadow, but then, we went back to homebase @ Nexus Prime and switched lineups. Later on in the wee hours, Fran wuz drivin' and we picked up Vortex Saito. The night ended, fittingly, with going around in a loop somewhere… near Olopue.
I'm reminded of the 22-min. hit "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. There was nothing particularly robotic about this trip, though. It was human, even for us cyberpunks. It took on a sort of mood when Kzzch (pronounced like a static sound) went AFK and had to put his dogs to sleep (literally) and then when Vortex fell asleep in the backseat. Along the way, I came up with a great idea I simply had to share with Live Help. Those who heard it know.
Sim crossings suck, but suck less than before. Fran hadn't previously explored into the bowels of Gibson, so she started going through thin metal doors and even into a cyberchurch. We even went to some old haunts I hadn't been to awhile, like Cristiano Midnight's hotel in Federal. I've come to the conclusion that the Dominus Shadow is to Second Life what the spinner is to Blade Runner.
O… and it was fun to drive my Shadow through the Welcome Area too. A new Resi asked why vehicles worked in the WA, startled by our sudden appearance in noscript land. I, in the fine tradition of the very first day I was run over by a UPS van, explained.
