Second Life, First Bling
Posted on: June 27, 2007Ah, so I'm happy to see First Bling live and out in the open… you may've spotted the proud graphical emblem @ secondlife.com:
Second Life is synonymous with simulated jewelry (often accompanied by particle storms), automobiles that'll cost you by the pixel (also often accompanied by particle storms), and other imagined riches. Anything that catches your fancy at Luxist, you can expect to show up in SL. Some facsimiles outright suck and do no justice to their original form, but I've seen some unofficial creations (with names and logos modified to avoid trademark takedowns :p) tend to inspire.
First Bling officially takes the familiar eye-in-hand logo you know and brings, or rather, blings it into offline — let's just say I can't wait for the crunk edition, especially because of what crafter Rona Kirsh describes:
Please look out for further editions that will have variations such as precious gems set into the charms.
and let's see who's first to get pics of themselves being First Bling'ed out on Flickr or elsewhere on the 'Net.
This, by the way, likely brings Second Life a step closer to being namedropped in a chart-topping rap song. (Even if it's a parody on The Simpsons, it still counts.)

This stuff is seriously just uncool.
Second Life "Bling"?
Bling is prolly one of the most stupid and annoying things inworld (not even talking about particles beeing ressource hogs). By putting that stuff on your main page you're just showing how out of sync you are with the "community" of your own platform.

Oh I was -so- excited when I saw the First Bling graphic on the home page. I can't wait to get my hands on one! Or several, in fact. Mmmm.
