Send enhanced postcards to Flickr with SLBuzz
Posted on: June 24, 2008I often get asked how I get location (SLURL) and tags auto-added to my Second Life postcards. The secret is simple, and I’ve got a video tutorial! I use Mark Barrett’s SLBuzz, compleat with Flickr crossposter, to work the magic. This is a Resident-run service so I disclaim it’s not part of Linden Lab; I’ll also share I’ve sent 1000s of postcards and it’s been a gargantuan timesaver.
A number of other Second Life sites I thank also have Flickr crossposting features. See instructions on:
And I use these sites’ “normal” addys to submit to their own photo pools; SLBuzz has its own photo pool too. Usually, I actually send postcards to 4, comma-separated email addresses:
flickr at slbuzz.com, x at slpics.com, pix at bloghud.com + a personal email archive addy
I encourage experimenting and discovering the joy of what works best for you. There is no way I can cover all the amazing possibilities, so if you’ve made guides & tutorials, do share with me and I’ll help get the word out!
One of the joys of Flickr is that it goes far beyond Second Life, and many people who’ve never heard of us may discover what’s going on. Right now, there are over 500,000 pictures tagged with "secondlife”, many of them showing inworld activities. There’re many Second Life groups on Flickr, the biggest having over 6,600 members and nearing 200,000 items in their pool.
Click through this picture (as featured in the video) to see all the glorious details:
And now you know how I do it! Enlightening!

Hey! I didn't know we could send to more than one address! Great tip on that too, thank you

Thanks for sharing another great tip….I'm going to re-post it in the Second Life Room on FriendFeed (happy to see you there, Torley!):
http://friendfeed.com/rooms/secondlife
By the way, does anyone know which file should I modify to have default customized and persistent email addresses in the To: field, so that I don't need to type them at every snapshot I sent?
I'm almost sure I managed to do that once, by tweaking one file in \skins\xui\en-us\ … but then I lose some data, and now I can't remember how to do it.
Maybe it can be managed through Debug Settings too?

@Lorimae: YW! That's understated-but-useful, aye.
@Opensource: I gotta check that room out more! And I don't know which files need to be modified but that would be very handy; long ago, I remember some peeps suggested having an auto-fill dropdown menu. There are definitely UI improvements in order.
