Sizer
Posted on: April 10, 2006Several minutes later, I am now blogging with a comfortably-resized 1024×1200 window, thanks to Sizer by Brian Apps. Yes, that's his real last name.
Simple and intuitive to use: just how I like 'em! Sizer easily allows me to right-click on the edge of a window and snap it to any resolution I choose. The bog-standard 1024×768, 800×600, 640×480 are provided and you can add your own.
I often used to wonder why many blogs have text that takes up a limited width of the screen, even on a standard resolution. Turns out it's easier to keep your eyes moving when the lines aren't so long—a reasonable explanation I'll easily subscribe to.
Of course, usefulness goes beyond automatic resizing of a window for, say, web design: in Second Life, when making machinima, there are several presets you can snap the window too, but if your desired resolution isn't on that list (e.g. 1024×768), you're outta hope, short of asking a Linden to add it.
In the meantime, Sizer. Nice 'n' easy does it!
