SLCC cool

2006-08-19

Second Life Community Convention is going on right now, and I I'm wowzered by all the fruits that've been harvested by the volunteers organizing it. Like Second Life itself, the SLCC is Resident-run and sponsored, with Linden support. I'm not there inworld but I've been checking the inworld sights, and it's a beaut:

Eggy Lippmann and Moon Adamant made the build and it's some sort of cyberflower with a respiratory system. SeanMcPherson Senior gave me an appropriate ewe and ruminates, "Do androids dream of watermelon sheep?" The first Torley Jr. was a cyborg catgirl.

Lots of people. Got very slow at points, esp. with the dual-core AMD, dual-monitor bug, it slowed me to a crawl. Toggled Ctrl-Alt-Shift-9 with Debug on to speed things up.

Nice to see old and new faces.

Really cool to see some of the actual faces behind the avatars, like DJ Nexeus Fatale's. He spun a fun set.

I'm now officially friends with Diz Strangelove. Just thought I should say that.

Also during the day:

Vivianne Draper showed me a solar system av, but what really caught my eye was another of Bizarre Berry's creations, a "Dirty Crackwhore". As much as I've progressed in my communication, I still like the literal. I can't speak at length on its authenticity, but along a similar line, Bizarre also makes bag ladies. I also caught a glimpse on the wall of an avatar resembling the poor soul (or lack thereof) from a certain mattress scene in Hellraiser.

Ghoti Nyak showed me a new tactical weapon system made by Fenrir Reitveld. She dropped the notecard and it was like a telephone book—very thorough, lots of reading. Not meant for griefing, it's good eye candy.

Say hello to Mechageo Dannunzio as Primitar: The Next Generation. Dancin' up a storm @ the SLCC site. Part of it's remixed from C-Tech gear (Compulsion Overdrive's brand).

Mechageo and n00body Cain should get together.

I'll want to go through DVDs of my early Second Life.

For me, Second Life is an accelerated study in humanity.
