SAMPLES
"Chinesque"
- Postmodern meandering across a distinguished college's garden leads to desperate longing and a chance encounter at a broken chessboard.

"Classical critic cilled" - Started out as one thing, began as another.

"Epicc" - Misspelling was kept. Repeat some mistakes repeatedly, you get success. It always look normal, as if it had been this way forever.

"Let's talk about icecream" - Childhood memories come back to overjoy, the icecream truck makes its way through the neighborhood… the kind of music I'd do for a children's show.

"Philler" - Very generic chording, but undeliably catchy. Stay watermelon.

STORY
The most polite thing I can tell you before proceeding is, thank you graciously for listening…

Shortly before this past weekend, I sat down and thought to myself,

"It's been a long time (months) since I last recorded piano music."

I got into this frame of mind especially because I've been using more of my piano works as soundtracks for my video tutorials — while I've tended to go with my techno compositions, the piano works have an intimate, introspective, and often calming (even if energetically so ;) ) feel. This became particularly poignant during the 15-min. vid that is "How to report a bug", and so, I moved on.

I fell very ill on Saturday and slept for most of the day. I suspect I dozed over 12 hours, but by the night, I was pressing melodies into the wind, and continued at 4 AM (normal waking time for me). Now, it's clear from my performances and track-naming how feverish I was. I mean it in the best of ways, because it is in this naive state of mind that The Most Good, Pure, and True of ideas emerges.

Most of these are relaxing, suitable for days when you want to forget time and unwind. (Some, like the sped-up "Piano math rock", are not! I can't recommend those to you!) Each and all were treated individually, effected within a different ambient space — an extension of techniques I've applied before, and now, taken to greater degrees.

Where else I've grown: the average length of these improvs is longer, about 5 min. In some parts, the chording is more conventional, yet in others, there's a brusque sentiment of experimentalism. I wasn't so influenced here by great pianists I admire, but you'll find the usual nods to Glass, Sakamoto, Winston, and alien references that go… beyond.

Look, or rather, listen, for selections from solo piano 5 to appear in my video tutorials.

P.S. Yes, there'll be a Vol. 6.

P.P.S. If you crave more piano music from me, GO HERE. And I'll add this to that page soon enough. :)
