I've forced myself to get down and learn Firefox as my primary web browser, so here I am, typing this?and it very much feels like a new typewriter. Or at least, interactive paper that I'm unfolding. Now, in the whole process of transitions, I've used Firefox before, but only on a casual basis to test my website and check out some sites, nothing too extensive. When I installed it, it felt very crude and empty but like sticking with a diet, I was determined to plunge in deep and commit, because I was growing increasingly frustrated with the laggy performance of Internet Explorer and the "Trident" engine, whatever that means.
UI is a very particular thing, the way I see it. Already in my blog, little things become apparent like the width of the I-beam and the fact that hitting Enter will not make the space of a double linebreak. Also, it looked very naked initially, because of the minimal interface. But that's okeydokey, 'cuz instead of cleaning out the junk, I can add my own in. I started a new Profile?I chose Charamel as my skin, it's magnifique and truely original. CREAMY!!! I also headed out to get some extensions to add functionality. There's one neat feature in Tabbrowser Preferences for kings of convenience: just mouseover on a tab to make it active, no need to even click! Keyconfig sure comes in handy, because I'm used to Ctrl-N in Maxthon for making new tabs. I wish doubleclicking a word in Firefox wouldn't select the trailing space after it though, makes the whole point of easily selecting-and-styling pointless. (IE does it too but I can still drag the mouse to shorten the text selection after.) DictionarySearch is a gem, this is one I can see being used often, although it can't be used together with the htmlAREA I use to edit mah blog.
Getting used to it, maybe. I used to have one of the greatest fears of the unknown and became disgusted with it over the year, which is why I openly hate seeing it paralyze others. For the first time in awhile, I have a browser open, and it's not IE?which is closed! I wonder how far this will take me… as I've mentioned in the past, I've also used Opera but it had some painful limits I couldn't live with. As I use computers more, I become increasingly picky of pecking away at the keys and working things in as quickly and smoothly as I can, like the bun assembly sequence in Shaolin Soccer. WOW! It's easy to add new search engines too, I was just going to link up IMDB… let's see here… oooh Shaolin Soccer. There. Still needs quick shortcuts so I don't have to click-and-drag on the dropdown menu. See how elegant I want it?
