Stoned in Love

Just a short one. Think I'll use Verdana. I've been using Google's Writely, writing how-to's for Second Life's future features. I like its document view and arrangement more than Zoho, and its Insert Comment ability is a killer. It's so funny, it's like I have sticky notes slapped all over the page. One mistake I'm learning from in the past: never, ever write documentation in a rush. It slays me because I always come up with misc. explanations and points of light (and understanding) that evolve through usage of the product: in this case, Second Life. Sometimes I climb onto the computer at 4 AM SLT and naturally find something I didn't observe before. If it's a bug, I report it. Fundamental to document your documentation. :)

I'll admit I misjudged Writely: the olive tones are growing on me. Sometimes, I also highlight passages subject to change in red. Some bits have the funniest internal descriptions before they're publicly released. Well, we all know about the hippos, don't we? ;)

I read Lifehacker religiously: it packs enough attention in punchy paragraphs to tug and choke my short attention span—nicely. Tonnes o' practical tips on how to get things done and save time. I dream of the day I get an invite to add comments.

My individual workstyle is crazy, but it fills in gaps for others. Therein lies the value… and at the same time, I wish I was more of an early riser! I'm often kept company by international Linden coworkers. I got Task Tracker for Google Desktop to figure out how much time I spend on things. Once I figured how disproportional the forums have been to me, I've approached them more dancingly, but it's hard not to get sucked in sometimes.

Oftentimes, I pressure myself to get something done quickly and well. I allocate a constrained time limit and go at it. And if it's not done by the end, like an email, I force myself to send it anyway. This has led to some hilarious moments.

Always more to do!
