Storm Thunders hath free Sound Prims *yay hands*
Posted on: December 14, 2006'Kay, I realized I didn't blog about this earlier — I should've, because I love when people take a great idea and execute it. Earlier, you may have recalled Storm Thunders and I having a back-and-forth about enhancing Second Life environments by adding… sound. Yes, it's true, for all the visual splendors of SL, it's primarily a visual place. Or too few sounds used too often.
Infact, the other day, I heard of a letter to support from a blind person who wanted Second Life to be more accessible. Immediately, I thought of my running concept for an echolocator gadget acting as an audio equivalent for the red beacon that tells you where your teleport destination is.
My wife and I joked that if the Three Blind Mice were in Second Life, they'd be furries. I imagine they'd be good audio texturers, and hence, be related to their visual counterpart, Forseti Svarog. RUR. What I'm dead serious about — well, not really — is what enriched audio experiences add. Infact, one of my peripheral concerns re: Second Life competitors is one of them is really going to expose the surround sound lushness, the post-THX dealio. *gasp* if a chicken were an egg, they might even be reading my blog now! That's a problem with ideas, eh? Give 'em away for free but… then again, the odds of them actually materializing are really, really slim.
So where was I now?
Ah yes, IF YOU WANT AN EASY PATHWAY TO ADDING INCIDENTAL SOUND-AGE TO YOUR PLACE(s) IN SECOND LIFE… get your Sound Prims by Storm Thunders. More info here. They're free.
(Since this entry was about sound, there are no pictures. Well, I coulda done a sonogram thing… ah, ideas.)

[...] Nifty huh? As noted previously, I used Storm Thunders' Sound Prims. I just recorded my sonic environment as I walked around from the shore to up atop my castle. And it can be a castle, 'cause it's at least a room. As Mickey Mouse boasted on a light-switch cover, "My Room is My Castle". He got that right! [...]
