TECHNOOO!

I wonder why it's so hard to come up for a name for my music. It's "Torley Music" (shades of Howlett et co.) but that's obvious. Maybe it's because the whole nature of labeling is constraining in a time and age where the sounds yearn to be free, or maybe it's just because of my craaazy passion for diversity/variety and expanding instead of boxing stuff in. So I know "techno" doesn't exactly cut it, but hey, it's TECHNOlogically-based music (as I've said time again), so it'll do! :D

(I use "TECHNOOO!" for accessibility and convenience; not because it is any great arbiter nor divider of the universe, but simply because it puts a smile on my face. YESSS!!!)

I'm seeing a lot of things fall apart "within the scene". It's sad, to see petty internal conflict and disputes like this in Electronic Dance Music. Not so petty when old friends break up and new enemies are made, I'm afraid… over what, style/genre divisions?!? Ridiculous.?Aren't people supposed to be, uh, dancing? I mean, it's music — sure, you can enjoy it on a deeper level, but the main thing for me is usually having fun. Unless it's emotionally engaging and depressing-sounding music. Then, I still have fun, in a very wrong (or is that Wong? or Chong?) way!!!

There WILL be a new Golden Age. Not now, not yet. But there WILL be. And where there's a will, there's a Way. And great stories we can share with our grandchildren. I promise you.

I haven't been posting to most of my usual/unusual forums lately, in part because of my time schedule but also because I'm just disheartened with all the verbal attacking going on. I like to help out (I'm newbie-friendly!), but face it, people gotta help themselves with their anger management problems (not in a funny Adam Sandler way either). It's really sad. Especially some of those Star Trek and Trance boards. :(*** Makes me cry. The same heated, sooo un-fun arguments come up over and over again about "whether a super star destroyer could destroy a borg cube" or "why is vocal trance so cheesy?" (never mind the fact I don't get why music is likened to food, since cheese is good for you, and if music be the food of love, play on!!), often culminating in death threats.

God bless — and I seriously mean this — God bless the moderators for stepping in to sort things out. The rabble always gets rowdy a few minutes later and it *never* ends, but for brief moments of cyber-time & cyber-space, there is peace. The world is full of so much pain and suffering as it stands, and for people to squawk and get all P.O.'ed over puny things like this really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. In fact, most of the time, people will look back and go "Oh, that was silly!" and realize the error of their ways — that they would NOT talk so rudely so someone if they were face to face.
