Torley plays piano trance hits!
Posted on: July 29, 2007Playing music on the weekends really is a great way to unwind — sharing it with you is even greater!
In this particular performance, I took some well-known pieces of electronic music:
BT - Flaming June
Robert Miles - Children
Hybrid - Finished Symphony
System F - Out of the Blue
Chicane - Saltwater
James Holden - Horizons
James Holden - Nothing
Ricardo Villalobos - Fizheuer Zieheuer
BT - Godspeed
Gershon Kingsley/Hot Butter/Crazy Frog - Popcorn
and rearranged them for keyboard, mixing 'em up into one big yummy stew. Since I don't have a crossfader here, clever chromaticism will have to do.
I recently uploaded 5 more piano vids, meaning this and:
- Minimal piano marvel-osity
- Listen to this and look at paintings (yes really)
- Vangelis meets Ryuichi Sakamoto (Hymne vs. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence)
- My heart will go on - Titanic theme on piano
and yes, the bloom-iness is a post-process effect; I was inspired to do it after seeing some other vids where it looks like the scene is glowing. Whether or not that was physical or applied afterwards, I don't know (yet), but here's to combining digital touch-ups with live performance.
(I dream of playing on a watermelon-colored grand piano by candlelight.)
As always, enjoy!

@joebear: Please clarify? This sounds off-topic.
@Blogland: Awww! Yeah, shame YouTube comments are limited to 500 characters, eh, for when you have something good you wanna say… and I really really appreciate it. Thanx a lot!
@Izzy: Aww glad you think so!
@Iris: =) I've long liked piano trance because it blends the traditional with the technological. Such a catchy tune.

@Cheshire: I had a lot of fun (and pasison) playing those, thanks for listening to them! Check out the originals too if you haven't yet — by James Holden and Utada Hikaru, respectively.
