Torley Textures available for download in a single ZIP pack!

2008-08-07

Even Torley Textures look like a monolith in WindLight by you.

I’ve had a few astute requests recently to make all the Torley Textures available as an easy downloadable archive. This is also convenient if you aren’t a Second Life member and want to partake in the lush loveliness, or want to modify them then upload inworld.

I asked myself, “Why didn’t I do this earlier?” and then I recalled how I intended to get around to it, but lacked time at the time. (Ah, tricky tricky time.) Fast forward to today, and here we are, over 600 textures of awesomeness:

» DOWNLOAD TORLEY-TEXTURES.ZIP

Enjoy, and let me know in the comments if you have any questions — you can use them freely on commercial products & services, just don’t sell them as-is (that’s foolish, because I’m giving them away for free right here).

Torley,
I intend to use them as backdrops for my fashion photographies. Is is okay?

Diana Allandale 2008-08-07 at 5:37 PM UTC

I didn’t want the comments section to be so lonely, so let me take a moment to say THANK YOU, for the zip file! It’s wonderful to have :)

Ipenda Keynes 2008-08-07 at 5:40 PM UTC

Wow, Torley! Thanks! After using them inworld for almost everything I build (most often things that look pretty while I’m scripting, lol), I started downloading a few of them from Flickr to use as my desktop wallpaper, Twitter backgrounds, Plurk themes, etc.
I jokingly tell people, “I stole Krystal Wormsign from Torley”, and when people ask me why I release my creations under Creative Commons, you’re my inspiration and motiviation to do so.

Thanks again!

MAHALO Torley!

You are the awesomeness, THANK you! :) ))

Judging from the “OMG READ ME.txt” file, it sounds like you’ve licensed the package under CC-BY-SA (or CC-BY-SA-NC, depending on how you view the “just don’t resell as-is” comment).

It would be helpful for historical purposes to explicitly state what license the package is available under, both on this page and in the archive.

Textures make all the difference! THANKS A TRILLION TORLEY! Your tops!

TO LICENSE-CONFUSED COMMENTERS: If you peek at any of Torley’s images on Flickr, they all say in clear symbols (right under “Additional Information”) that they’re CC-BY-SA. Also he’s clarified many times that he encourages any area of texture use short of actually having the texture itself become the item sold.

It seems safe to say: if in doubt, you can just have your galleries/displays/what-have-you also give kind mention to Torley’s free textures (emphasis on FREE) as a valuable resource of yours.

Thanks for this, Torley! I assure you your textures will find good use on my personal OpenSim server.
I’ve always been quite proficient at creating 3D models, but my graphics know-how leaves much to be desired, and although I have created a few interesting abstract textures in my time, most of my models go untextured or end up with default textures. So to find a pack of so many high-qualilty textures being given away with such goodwill, is indeed a great windfall. Thanks again.

Hi Torley, thanks so much this is so generous. I have been learning this IMVU stuff from the ground up and to have something I can use to gauge how my stuff is supposed to look is priceless. I will credit you where the credit is due.

Kickass! Thommie

Torley, You are the Avi of Da Year man! I had an opportunity to meet ya once at the rail tracks, hangin with a Hobo. Thanks for everything! I’ve learned so much.
