Ready for your enjoyment, click here to enjoy Torley's Guide to Making Movies in Second Life!
Everything on that page (currently) I can vouch for because I've done it. Nothing is on-the-fence. It's all true experiences, directly distilled from my adventures making over 225 video tutorials and dozens of short film machinima-things. Learn about:
- How to optimize performance
- Which recording tools you can use
- Hiding the interface (MUST-KNOW!)
- Changing sky + water settings for badass beauty
- Avatar movement
- Where to host your video
… and more!
And this is just the "1st edition", future ones will be expanded to cover "props" and topics of interest as they come up. Since it's a wiki, I encourage making this guide better. Feel free to tweak it to accelerated awesomeness, k?
Now LET ME WAX my enthusiasm for SpaceNavigator + Flycam! These devices can regularly be found for about US$50 — watch for sales on deals sites — and make an ULTRA difference when filming smooth pans and other cinematic shots. Like the above trailer for Here island, which I recorded in a few seconds before edits. See what a difference that makes compared to the "normal camera"?
Let me know if this helps you — otherwise, I wouldn't know!

@Oolon: Awesome! Yeah, Hans Zimmer (composer) did some of my fave music soundtracks. I was actually listening to this on album AT THE SAME TIME and started filming… an inspired moment, all the pieces worked together.
