I've been compiling loose notes strewn here and there — figuratively speaking, as they're text files on my computer. I love having a blog to share what's on my mind, so in this latest installment, I've prepared an easy glossary of terminology native to me. Note that:

2. Some of the following is based in reality but goes beyond it, so please keep my Alternate Virtual Reality in mind while reading.

AGGREGATE - A polished collection of neat ideas; popularly, which noone else thought to do/found to be too much trouble, so you seized the opportunity.

ALARIC SWORDBAY - Computer-assisted program ("bot") to make your building life easier by emulating your style, then enhancing it. Think of it as a autopen for primwork.

BYPRODUCT - Things which humans think are more important than they actually are. Phrased another way: "What you are worrying about right now is a DISTRACTION from what's really important in your life." A prime example is "money".

CAMSCAN - Remaining stationary as an avatar and using your camera to remotely view, oftentimes with Client menu > Disable Camera Constraints. Commonly employed when shopping in difficult-to-navigate venues.

CHESS PLAYER - Intuitive individual with prescient foresight and a gift for making observations which often are in the wide open, but hardly commented-on. (Refers more accurately to Star Trek-style 3D chess.)

CONNECTION - A pillar used in the ars memoriae to construct formidable mental webs of insighful deductions. Most people look at a Connection and are stumped: "How is that even relevant?" Those who can see have kinsight.

COP-DAN-DENBO! - Aggressive business technique used by the Volts V. Refers to competitively crushing the competition by: (1) copying their style, (2) parodying their style, (3) doing what they do better than they do, then (4) adding the Volts' own abilities atop the aforementioned, and doing a "gilded fold" (the grace of forced liquidation).

COUNCIL OF TORLEYS, THE - See this.

DISTILLED ACHIEVABLES - A method of harvesting idea-crop and presenting highlights, also known as bullet points, to clearly communicate substantial progress. Take it literally. Inspired by Testa Barbarosa of the Transparent Vineyards.

ECLECTIC - "The best of many systems."

GOOD FRICTION - When a teacher imposes an apparent deterrent to see who'll persist onwards — resulting in a healthier, long-term path of personal development. For example, not giving the answer to a question, but handing the student a book, and encouraging said pupil to search. For it is how you react to what you encounter on that journey that defines who you are.

GPT - The Good, the Pure, and the True. Also known as "The Love Principles". (Fear doesn't have principles, for it is cowardly.)

IN-TRANSIT - Continuing to travel via teleport with a smooth flow, not being halted by insignificant interruptions. See "jaunting".

JAUNTING - A series of rapid teleportations undertaken across The Grid when landmarks are queued up. Each place is traditionally visited for no more than ten (10) minutes, and then the next Jaunt is embarked upon. Process could be further ameliorated with llTeleportAgent.

KINDSIGHT - The act of feeling fellowship and bonds almost immediately after meeting a stranger who's "on the same wavelength", "who resonates", "it feels like we've been friends forever". Sometimes misspelled as "kinsight"; both are acceptable. Rhymes with "fine flight".

LOLEX - Laughing about time, enjoying the moment. A nod to the popular Rolex chronometers, and a tip of the wrist to Torley Sr. Sr., who couldn't pronounce his R's if his life depended on it. Which it didn't.

LOWMIND - A person who possesses capable mental faculties but isn't exploring their potential. A familiar analogy would be, living in a big mansion but staying cooped up in a single room. This results in myndopia.

MEME-PAWN - An otherwise-unpleasant person who's doing you a favor: acquiring you free publicity by mentioning your name and/or teachings repeatedly. As Pilof Naximus wrote, "So shall your critics be blessed by finding you new friends."

MIQ - Meaningful Interaction Quotient. "Is it worth my time to talk to this person? Will I learn something new and useful AND have fun?"

MYNDOPIA - Myopia of the mind. Being ignorant to broader contextual cues that could aid in a situation, such as supporting evidence, events that transpired before you came on the scene, failing to do research on the subject when it's a few keystrokes away, etc. As the great teacher Llau Zook said, "You cannot be me. But if you haven't read my biography, how can you know me?"

PERFORMANCE ART - To create while an intrigued audience watches.

PICCIE - Picture. An image, photograph, snapshot.

PRAISE PILE - Keeping a stack of kind words and encouraging letters nearby, so when you feel down, just reach for your praise pile to put the situation in perspective.

QUARP - Asking a question with the deeper intention of seeing how someone will react to it, to judge their character.

REKKA RIDDIM - "Wrecker rhythm." Music with heavy bass that feels so good, it simultaneously warms your heart while blowing out your speakers. Doesn't have to be loud, just felt.

RIPPLESHOCK - A blink, an epiphany, a "Eureka!" moment that seemingly comes through suddenly after a foundation of prior creativity has been established. Sometimes termed "a latent conclusion". So-called because it feels like the air becomes more solid than water, and you can feel your consciousness radiate outwards while your mind feels illuminated.

RICE-FARMERING - Harvesting many pieces of info (like grains of rice) into an aggregate. Making a cohesive whole ("a meal") out of scattered pieces. For example, combining many nuggets of feedback to form a fuller picture of a new Second Life feature's possible implementation. Comes from Jhongguók-yan poetry.

SPLORE - Or "splorin'", informal for "exploration". Term acquired from The Princess. Refers also to "spore", "from that which grows".

SUBAK SUBAR AL-SUN! - Battle cry chanted whilst celebrating a Watermelon festival. Derived by Grid-Tetra's Hangull Corean-Egyptian Alliance. Literally means, "Watermelon — it is GPT!" See GPT.

SUPER-WELCOME - Better than a garden-variety welcome.

THANK YOU GRACIOUSLY - Politely showing appreciation.

THANXIES - "Thank-you" in Torleyspeak. Originally spelled all-lowercase with an uppercase "X". Acquired from the anime forums of yonder yore.

WELKIES - "Welcome". Similar to "thanxies", but a direct reference to "Kipsy the Welk", Xynthica's friend. (Numerous puns followed, such as "Welkcome Mat".) In broader usage, can mean: "I may be slow at times, but my gratefulness endures."

WATERMELON - Best fruit. Chosen for several reasons, including: (1) it tastes good, (2) it has beautiful colors, (3) Dad once told me me a story about Chinese Robin Hoods ransacking trucks loaded with watermelon to feed the poor. Also consider (4) the symbolism of "water" in general. And, how in some myths, watermelon gave birth to the world, while in others, watermelons are a choice food of the deceased. It represents the life cycle, and by extension, Torley's Second Life cycle.

YAYZERAMA! - Worth being happy about. Derived from "yay" (exclamation of joy), "yayzer", rough transliteration of "laser" (indicating precision, poise), and "Rama" (Terra-Siam line of monarchs, also suffix for a plethora of a particular indulgence, e.g., Bowl-A-Rama).
