Tut Tut
Posted on: April 30, 2006I love a well-written, well-illustrated tutorial.
Now, let's connect: when I was new, it was really difficult to find hair in watermelon tones. Exceedingly challengingly. I remember when I'd get some of Lost Thereian's dos, and then "hack" them up (more elegant than it sounds, I assure you) and then have a total of something like four attachments on my head at a time, combining bangs and recolored snippets… if you look back in my blog, it's all too easy to see "classic Torley Jr.". Even before that, I simply wore black hair—but the watermelons got to me!
Today, things are different.
But, just saying, if I had certain tutorials onhand when I was new, I would have advanced through my Second Life much faster. Education makes such a difference!
This is the part where I mention coming across "Hair Editing 101: The Ultimate Salon Guide for Beginners", written by Salome Strangelove, with pictures taken by Sabrina Doolittle. This is exactly what I want to see more of. It covers a lot of "hair hacks" you can do, from a simple recolor job up to modding the strands. Practical knowledge which gets asked a lot, but answered little—until soon, I hope!
They've even explained the process of backing up. (Which makes me think maybe we need an easier method: right-click on a copiable item in your inventory, select Backup and a popup appears to rename it if it's modifiable. Maybe even an option to have it placed in a Vault folder.)
I wonder if S&S would be up for teaching live classes inworld too, as the most hands-on extension of applying this wisdom? Or if not that, a video version? =]
