i won't answer for Torley but for terraforming, the best is by creating RAW data files. you could use the USGS black and white topographical maps as a base, it would take some experimenting with photoshop layer effects I think, but should be doable.

i find RAW maps can be very amusing because of the results I get. it certainly takes some practice. good luck :)

@Pompo: Yeah, it's fun like a toy but can do some significant adjustments.

@Psyra: Oh why rats! I think that's a bug. Did you try to access the vid from a feed reader or directly on this page?

@Ener: Thrilled to hear of your usage of Picnik!

I am Canadian. BC born and raised!

i love Picnik. i typically batch my day's BMP files from Second Life in either Fireworks or Photoshop to export to jpeg and a smaller size (like 1200 wide). and then i Picnik. it's fast and typically i only do a little contrast work with it and voila! :)

speaking of "voila!", i am from quebec and just saw (oh yes, acute powers of uncanny observation) that you are canadian??? is this true? be still my heart! =D

How might I take a topo map of the area around Harbin Hot Springs, California, for example, and map it into SL?

I wonder if you can tell me what's the best way to go from topographic maps
related to this quadrant
http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?t=2&s=11&Lon=-122.65668800&Lat=38.79111100&Alon=-122.65668800&Alat=38.79111100&w=1&opt=0&addr=18424+Harbin+Springs+Anx%2c+Middletown%2c+CA+95461&qs=18424+Harbin+Springs+Rd%7cMiddletown%7cCalifornia%7c

or from http://seamless.usgs.gov/ which data I couldn't access

to regions in Second Life?

Have you already made a video about this? If so, what's its URL?

How can I efficiently terraform?

Thank you :)
