Fitting for the New Year, I enjoy experiences I haven't been through before. This means I'm constantly on the prowl for the fresh, new, and eclectic. Now, just because it's "new" doesn't invalidate what might have been created years ago — I use the word as shorthand "new to me". As we each have our personal experiences, this differs from one to another.
I've had a really fun, productive Saturday thus far (Ed. this post was delayed by two days due to slow YouTube processing); I recently uploaded a little video I want to share with you. As you may've seen from previous outings, I have a thing for time-lapse video. I recently looked at some footage which was sitting in the vault too long (namely because I'd been very busy in between), and pulled it out with a fresh set of eyes, since I originally saw it. I didn't want to take the well-run "straight" route with minimal effecting, save for the mandatory speed-up.
So, what I did instead, was run the footage through a series of filters which stretched, mirrored, recolored, lit, and performed a number of other digital operations on the pixels within. Thus, the final result isn't necessarily recognizable upon initial viewing, but becomes clearly apparent as you keep watching.
The music is a simple slice of sonic umami titled "03" which I composed long ago. You can download "03" in MP3 (2.0 MB); or listen to it by itself here:

Bon appétit!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOLLOW… read on if you must know!
If you're wondering I shot this, I was on Orientation Island Public. I'm not oblivious to the leering dialog at the end, nor is it a secret I like tha Doggfather. (If this doesn't make sense, observe the vid closely.)
Since I have a flair for layering the audio and visual, prompted by today's earlier event, I placed a subtle vinyl loop for that so-called analogue, warm feel under the music. It lends presence without being overbearing, hopefully like a baby.
Related. this video definitely has some Mother-Child overtones and undertones, and speaks highly to the symbolism of arriving in Second Life for the first time, being beyond bewildered. While I'm reasonably certain you didn't quite see something like this upon your first time here, I deliberately effected and processed the frames in such a way that there'd be a sense of uncertainty.
I was inspired after reading about First Life immigration art, which new arrivals to America may create sometime after they get acclimated. Feelings of terror comingling with anxiousness, excitement, promises of renewed hope, and certainly, future knowledge of where and how to acquire those art supplies.
At times, the screen unravels like a map, almost as a fantasy MMO. The way the distorted, obscured chat flows across the screen is not unlike data readouts in anime.
I also vaguely wanted to hint at emotion in motion, staticky-yet-interpretable, the feelings of watching a sonogram. After all, once you take that trip out of the womb, you're never coming back.
Welcome to the world.

Very cool video Torley!
A new acquaintance of mine mentioned that he had heard you say you wanted a SL video player that could play multiple videos at the same time. I have one that will let you play multiple videos at the same time, on the same or different prims, all with one parcel media stream. I would like to give you a copy of one if you want. IM me, Navillus Batra if that is okay.
Here is a link with more info.

Thanx Gillian, Berford, Dillon, Dani, and Navillus!
Also, Navillus, yes, that's certainly one of my longtime wishes in Second Life. I hope to IM you inworld shortly; I'd like to see this for myself. Do you know Kisa Naumova? She's done some intriguing experiments along the same lines, featuring Flickr.
